Heat exchangers for Edible Oil Refining
The refining line stage by stage (degumming, neutralising, bleaching, deodorising and hydrogenation), plus the interchange that pays for the heat.
Applications
- DegummingHeating crude oil to around 70–90 °C for acid or water degumming, ahead of gum separation.
- NeutralisationHeating oil for caustic refining, and the hot water wash that follows soapstock separation.
- BleachingRaising oil to bleacher temperature, and cooling the filtered oil that leaves it.
- Deodorising heat recoveryOil-to-oil interchange between the deodorised oil leaving the column and the bleached oil entering it.
- Post-deodorisation coolingTaking deodorised oil down to storage and packing temperature after the column.
- HydrogenationHeating oil to converter temperature, and cooling the hardened product that comes out.
- Interstage heat recoveryInterchanging heat between outgoing hot oil and incoming cold feed.
- Winterisation & dewaxingChilling oil to crystallise waxes before filtration.
