Close temperature approach is exactly what a plate pack does well, which is what makes the energy recovery worth the capital. Every stage above is a candidate; the deodoriser economiser is simply the biggest of them. Interchange below the elastomer limit can stay gasketed and therefore openable, which on an oil duty is worth having. Viton on both sides, since the hot stream is oil.
