A regenerative plate pack does all three sections in one frame — the incoming beer is heated by the outgoing beer, which is what keeps the heating and refrigeration load on a flash pasteuriser low. The plate pattern is chosen to reach the pasteurisation units required without overshooting, because heat the beer has taken cannot be taken back out.
