Jacket water cooling

Cooling the main and auxiliary engine high-temperature jacket water circuit against the low-temperature loop.

Also called: jacket water cooler, JCW cooler, HT cooler, high temperature fresh water cooler.

Standard Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

Fresh water on both sides, so the duty is clean and a gasketed pack gives the close approach in the smallest footprint an engine room has to offer. The engine maker sets the jacket outlet temperature; holding it steadily across the load range matters more than the peak duty. Gasket compound is chosen for treated cooling water at jacket temperature.
