Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger
Vapour-side volume and the need for a code-stamped vessel push this to a welded type. Plate & shell gives the duty in a markedly smaller footprint than an equivalent shell-and-tube.
Two plate & shell units finished and standing in the packing bay. The bolted head on each comes off to withdraw the plate pack; everything on the shell side is welded, which is what carries this construction past the pressure and temperature a gasket will take.
